In a break from my usual topics for my blog, I just had to write a quick post today on an advert that I saw earlier for a pumpless hand soap dispenser; the dispenser uses a sensor to detect your hands under the nozzle then pumps soap into your hands. The main crux of the pitch is that you will never have to touch a ‘germ infested’ soap dispenser pump again; the advert focuses on the transfer of germs from your ‘dirty hands’ to the pump. What is that all about? What is the very next thing you do after pumping the anti-bacterial/hand soap into your palms? You wash your hands, so what difference does it make if the dispenser pump has germs on it or not? Am I missing the point? Am I just being too logical? What do you think?
